Information on Application Requirements and Procedures for 2018-19
Thank you for your interest in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Psychiatry Residency Program. For the academic year 2018-19, we will accept applications only through ERAS and make selections through the NRMP. Applications to be considered for the next academic year should be in the ERAS system no later than December 31, 2018.

We do not have a minimum board score requirement – just that the scores are passing. The Arkansas State Medical Board has established a policy that it will not issue a state medical license to anyone who has more than three attempts on any of the USMLE Steps – 1, 2, or 3. For those educated outside the U.S., we look for approximately a year of experience in U.S. clinical settings such as externships, observerships, research assistants, etc. At least part of this experience should be in Psychiatry. We sponsor H-1B or J-1 visas. There is no cutoff date for year of graduation. We currently have two International Medical Graduates in our program. There are eight PGY1 positions in the UAMS Psychiatry Residency Program. For 2018-19, there are 30 residents in the program.
