HospitalThe Adult Post-infectious Autoimmune Encephalopathy (APAE) Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic formed by UAMS’ Psychiatric Research Institute and the Neurodiversity Clinic.

What can you expect from the APAE Clinic?
• We serve adults with acute-onset neuropsychiatric symptoms originating during childhood.
• We treat patients who meet the criteria for PANS/PANDAS only.
• We give preference in scheduling to residents of Arkansas.
• Patients must have an established PCP. A PCP referral to the clinic is required.

What services are offered in the APAE Clinic?
• We will evaluate and assess for Post-Infectious Autoimmune Encephalopathy.
• We will work with you and your primary care physician to develop a care plan which we will ask your PCP to implement.
• We will offer ongoing support to you and your PCP as you progress through treatments.
• We will facilitate referrals for care for those patients not meeting CPAE diagnostic criteria

What should you expect during a clinic visit? Outpatient evaluations will be tailored to your needs.
• Adult psychiatric evaluation
• Recommendations to your PCP based on findings

We are not able to offer:
• Acute inpatient psychiatric care
• Transportation
• Guarantee of insurance coverage
• Medical interventions or treatments at the time of the visit
