The UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute’s Center for Trauma Prevention, Recovery and Innovation (TPRI) is a multidisciplinary program designed to promote the growth and recovery for people who have experienced trauma through clinical care, education, and community integration. The Center for Trauma Prevention, Recovery and Innovation strives to promote prevention of trauma-related disorders, increase access to quality care for trauma-related disorders, and support innovative approaches designed to address the effects of traumatic stress.
The Center for Trauma Prevention, Recovery and Innovation strives to foster a trauma-informed care within the UAMS Health system. A trauma-informed approach to care integrates knowledge about psychological trauma into policies, procedures and practices in order to avoid re-traumatization of people served within the organization. This includes adopting patient-centered care principles designed to create a culture of safety, trustworthiness, cultural humility, collaboration, peer support, and empowerment within an organization in order to promote physical and psychological wellbeing.
