Linda Larson-Prior, Ph.D., is a professor of psychiatry, neurology, neurobiology and developmental sciences, and biomedical informatics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she directs the Neurocognitive Dynamics Laboratory. She is also a faculty member of the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center, where she directs the Brain Function Laboratory.
The research focus of her laboratories addresses the impact of environmental factors such as sleep, physical health, weight status, and mental health on cognitive function across the lifespan. To better understand the impact of these factors on cognitive function, her laboratory employs neuroimaging, behavioral and neuropsychological methods. To accomplish her research goals, she relies on a multi-disciplinary team of expert colleagues. Current research projects in her laboratories include:
- Impact of childhood obesity on cognitive function in adolescents
- Brain network organization underlying cognitive-motor dysfunction in Parkinson’s Disease
- Dynamic organization of brain network functions that accompany cognitive deficits in aging and neurological disease
- The impact of poor sleep quality and duration in substance use disorders
- The impact of sleep on cognitive function across the lifespan
