The Alcohol Recovery program in the Center for Addiction Services and Treatment was created to provide treatment for those who struggle with excessive alcohol use. Excessive alcohol use can cause lasting changes in the brain that make individuals vulnerable to relapse. The good news is that no matter how severe the problem may seem, most people with at risk alcohol use can benefit from treatment with behavioral therapies, medications, or both. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved three medications for alcohol use disorder (AUD) including a medication that is given as an injection once a month. A unique feature of this program is the availability of transitioning to the once a month injection of naltrexone, also called Vivitrol.
Operating in a safe and friendly environment, the program is geared toward treatment and recovery. All clients must be willing to demonstrate a willingness to abstain from all mood-altering chemicals and to participate in the program until they have reached a successful level of completion that has been determined by their treatment team. Clients must be 18 years of age or older, have adequate transportation and be able to meet the required time and financial commitments.
A handbook outlining all of the criteria for admission as well as the details of the program and a fee schedule is available upon request. Contact the Center for Addiction Services and Treatment at 501-526-8400 for more information.
