Nihit Kumar, M.D.

Dr. Nihit Kumar

Nihit Kumar, M.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry. He is board certified in psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and addiction psychiatry, and specializes in treating children and adolescents with mental health and substance use disorders, and adults with opioid use disorder. He is the medical director of STRIVE school-based mental health program, and the training director of the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program at UAMS.

His past and current research interests include enhancing outcomes in patients on medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder, dissemination of education on opioid abuse, and use of technology for prevention of substance use in students.
