Women’s Mental Health Program

Women's Mental Health Program: Who Do We Serve?

The Psychiatric Research Institute’s Women’s Mental Health Program stands as one of the nation’s few specialized centers dedicated to supporting individuals throughout all the stages of the reproductive journey.

This comprehensive program includes both Inpatient and Outpatient services, providing vital mental health care to individuals from diverse backgrounds. In addition, WMHP offers specialized treatment and support for individuals managing the challenges of alcohol and substance use alongside mental health concerns.

WMHP provides a continuum of care that addresses the immediate needs of our patients and supports their long-term recovery and wellness. Each service is interconnected, enabling smooth transitions and collaborative treatment planning across all levels of care. Our Peer Support Specialist Service creates an environment that promotes healing, personal growth and lasting recovery.

Research is a big part of what we do at WMHP. We are deeply committed to advancing mental health care through ongoing research initiatives that help us refine our services and improve patient outcomes.

In addition to exceptional patient care, we proudly serve as a singular destination where clinical services align with educational opportunities, including UAMS Reproductive Psychiatry Fellowship for physicians.

We are proud to now offer services of perinatal psychiatry in Northwest Arkansas through our Women’s Mental Health Clinic in Fayetteville.

Appointments

We accept new patients who are pregnant up to 12 months postpartum , considering becoming pregnant or facing infertility.

The Women’s Mental Health Program is a self-referral clinic. Although the Psychiatric Research Institute does not require a referral for this clinic, some insurance providers require a referral for specialty care. Please check with your insurance provider before requesting an appointment.

We offer both in-person and telemedicine appointments for your convenience.

What should I bring to the appointment?
For your first appointment, please bring your photo ID and insurance card. You should also bring any medical records you can provide, including slides or test results from other clinics.

For future appointments, please provide updated medical and insurance information.

Please arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time to check in and any necessary paperwork.

How do I request a prescription refill or contact a nurse from the clinic?
It is preferable to request a prescription refill during your scheduled appointment. If refills are needed at other times, there are two options:

  • Make a request online through MyChart.
