Welcome to the University of Arkansas for Medical Science’s Clinical Psychology program located in the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute. While it may not be possible to travel to Arkansas for interviews just yet due to COVID-19, we would like to bring some of UAMS, Arkansas, and Little Rock to you.
The UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) was built in 2008 and brings together top research, education, and patient care all in one building. We are fortunate to have two floors as inpatient units, including a specialty Child Diagnostic Unit for children ages 2-12. In addition, there are outpatient clinics on our 2nd and 4th floors as well as research. Also unique to PRI is the Brain Imagine Research Center (BIRC) located in the basement.
For a quick tour of PRI, please watch the following video.
Arkansas is nicknamed the “The Natural State” for its natural beauty. Everyone who visits our state agrees. All four corners of our state offer unique landscapes, state and national parks, and attractions. There is something here for everyone to enjoy.
We invite you to visit some of Arkansas’s natural beauty around the state.
Little Rock is the capitol of Arkansas, and where the main UAMS campus and the PRI is located. Little Rock offers beautiful scenic settings, vibrant arts and cultural attractions, an outstanding culinary and beverage scene, and exciting year-round events and festivals.
For a short tour around the Little Rock area, please watch the following video.
For specific information on some favorite places, we’ve included several local guides for dining, local neighborhoods, schools (K through high school), hiking and biking trails, dog parks, state parks (yes, we have a diamond mine), a Presidential Library, Museums, Civil Rights History Tour, local arts and attractions (Broadway Series), and the River Market District, just to name a few.
Metro Guide: If there is a “handbook for Little Rock,” then perhaps the Little Rock Metro Guide is it. The Metro Guide is very useful to when moving to Little Rock. Here you will find a neighborhood guide (great info when picking out housing) that describes the different neighborhoods in Little Rock as well as shopping centers and restaurants available in those areas. The Metro Guide includes extensive school information for children, information for pets (vets and parks), world class health care and a few tips on transitioning to Arkansas.
In addition to The Metro Guide, please see the digital editions of the Little Rock Guest Guide, and Arkansas Love Where You Live, and other current digital magazines that help describe Little Rock and Arkansas. These can be found in the link below. The Little Rock Guest Guide visits specific shops and restaurants within the Little Rock area, and The Arkansas Love Where You Live guide shows you some really popular places you should visit.
