
Program objectives:
Develop expertise in caring for pregnant and postpartum patients with psychiatric disorders, including substance use disorders and behavioral addictions.
Assimilate knowledge to collaborate with patients, patients’ families, and members of the health care team to optimize management during peripartum period.
We are accepting applications from candidates who have completed a psychiatric residency in good standing for a one-year, full-time position with a competitive salary.
Accepted applicants will:
- Diagnose, evaluate, and treat perinatal conditions, including infertility.
- Diagnose, evaluate, and treat acute psychiatric conditions and reproductive psychiatric emergencies.
- Review and assimilate relevant literature for practicing evidence-based medicine.
- Develop and understanding of consultative care with OB/GYN providers.
- Gain skills in education of residents and students.
Clinical Sites:
- The Women’s Mental Health Program (WMHP) has been providing ambulatory psychiatric care for pregnant and postpartum patients over the past 10 years through integrating clinical practice with research protocols and multidisciplinary education.
The WMHP also offers specialized substance use treatment alongside mental health concerns.
- The Women’s Inpatient Unit, one or less than 10 in the nation, provides a unique opportunity to supervise a treatment team in evaluating and treating individual’s psychiatric concerns.
