A-CRA (Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach)
A-CRA is an evidence-based behavioral treatment delivered directly to adolescents and young adults experiencing substance use problems. The overall goal of A-CRA is to help the individual replace substance use behaviors with healthy, pro-social activities, such that returning to substance use is less appealing. A-CRA focuses on skill development, including: refusal skills, positive communication skills, sobriety sampling, increasing pro-social activities, problem solving, etc. A-CRA includes a limited number of family support sessions to work with the young person and family members on improving their relationship. This training is designed for licensed and license-eligible therapists/clinicians providing direct clinical services.
CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training)
CRAFT is an evidence-based approach designed for providers working with caregivers and family members of people struggling with substance use. CRAFT works with the family member to build skills around communication and reinforcement strategies in encouraging their loved one’s engagement in treatment. CRAFT also provides family members with the opportunity to focus on their own well-being, improving the overall family dynamic. The focus of CRAFT is how to lovingly support their person in treatment, while allowing their loved one to experience the natural consequences of their behaviors. This training is open to a broad range of providers, including licensed clinicians, QBHPs, case managers, and other professionals who work directly with families.
